United Hospital Services (UHS) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility at 1335 Huehn Street in Hammond, IN. Indianapolis-based UHS chose Hammond as the home for its second facility because of its great location and friendly business climate, according to a news release.

The company is constructing a brand-new 55,585-square-foot facility on vacant land in the West Point area, near Gostlin Street and Columbia Avenue in Hammond. The $18-million facility is scheduled for a December 2022 grand opening with 35 new jobs. The number of employees is projected to increase to 110 in 5-7 years.

“The city of Hammond welcomes UHS and its commitment to investing in Hammond, especially in the healthcare sector,” said Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr. “Hammond is pleased to welcome UHS to its business community and help them grow and expand in the years to come.”

Mayor McDermott, city of Hammond officials and UHS representatives were on hand for the Nov. 18 groundbreaking ceremony.
