A new online survey commissioned by Cintas Corp., Mason, OH, revealed Americans’ preferences for masks and frequent disinfection and sanitization in public facilities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults was conducted for Cintas by The Harris Poll, according to a news release.

More than two-thirds (68%) of Americans would feel more confident entering public facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic if employees and patrons were wearing masks. The survey also found that over three in five Americans (62%) say frequent disinfection and sanitization of restrooms in public facilities would make them feel more self-assured.

“The pandemic has resulted in many businesses re-evaluating health and safety protocols, including the way they approach cleaning,” said Sean Mulcahey, marketing manager, Cintas. “Taking the proper precautions can instill confidence in customers and secure repeat business at a time when revenue is crucial.”

The survey also revealed that 61% of Americans say they would feel more confident if the facility has implemented additional cleaning and disinfecting protocols, which includes professional application of a disinfectant or sanitizer.

This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of Cintas from July 23-27, among 2,039 U.S. adults ages 18 and older. This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.
