After 34 years’ service in the business of supplying mats to the linen, uniform and facility services industry, David Watterson, M+A Matting’s vice president of field and international sales, recently announced his retirement from the LaGrange, GA-based company. M+A helped fuel the growth of the mat-rental market, starting with its founding in the early 1960s as Mountville Mills Inc. Because of Watterson’s pivotal role in that growth, we asked if he’d answer a few questions about where the business is headed in the 2020s and beyond. Excerpts of his responses appear below.

Aramark Corp., Philadelphia, recently announced that it has completed the spin-off of Vestis Corp., which holds Aramark’s uniform and workplace supplies business. Vestis is now an independent public company, according to a news release.
Cintas Corp., Mason, OH, recently announced that Paul F. Adler, vice president, treasurer & investor relations, will retire on July 31. The company also announced that Jared S. Mattingley, currently the company’s corporate controller, will be promoted to replace Adler as vice president, treasurer & investor relations, effective July 1.
TRSA operator member Kimmel Corp., Upper Sandusky, OH, recently announced that it will no longer provide personal dry cleaning and laundry services effective July 1.
