In today’s digital landscape, the importance of preventing phishing emails and maintaining backups is well-known. However, what should you do immediately after an IT disaster like ransomware or server failure strikes? The CrowdStrike incident has highlighted that even Fortune 500 companies with robust IT practices need to be better prepared for recovery.

On April 17, TRSA is hosting a webinar titled “Beyond the Plan: Mastering Disaster Recovery Testing for True Resiliency.” This event aims to provide actionable steps for both preparing for and responding to cyber events. It also will simplify complex “IT Speak” terms around recovery, making them accessible to all participants.

This webinar is designed to give attendees a new perspective on recovering from specific scenarios, including:

  • Ransomware Attacks: Learn how to recover when computers and file systems are disabled.
  • Server Failures: Understand the steps to take when a server failure causes data loss.
  • Internet Outages: Discover strategies to manage limited access to key systems during an outage.

The webinar will feature Zachary McCook (pictured above, right), director of information technology at Nixon Medical, who has over 12 years of IT experience in areas such as cybersecurity, data systems, project management and AI. He also is an active member of the TRSA Cybersecurity and Data Task Forces. Tim Mazur (pictured above, left), director of cybersecurity at KPInterface, also will be speaking. Mazur specializes in helping businesses improve their cybersecurity by managing threats, securing systems and supporting compliance.

McCook emphasized that this webinar is not just for IT leaders. “Effective disaster recovery requires collaboration across all departments,” he said. “IT professionals and non-IT staff alike need to understand the steps to take during a cyber event. This webinar will equip everyone with the knowledge to contribute to a resilient recovery process, ensuring that your organization can quickly bounce back from disruptions.”

Registration is free to all TRSA members.
