TRSA, along with the Wisconsin Association of Textile Services (WATS), recently conducted follow-up meetings with Wisconsin legislators to continue to build support for legislation that would allow the linen, uniform and facility services industry to be able to utilize the manufacturing and agriculture tax credit (MATC), thereby cutting the industry’s tax liability in half.
By the end of the day, the delegation had visited more than 25 offices securing co-sposnsors for upcoming legislation to be introduced by Sen. Rob Hutton (R) and Assemblyman Scott Krug (R).
During the Legislative Conference in March, the TRSA/WATS delegation was successful in finding a Chief Sponsor of legislation in both the State Senate and State Assembly. Since the Conference, legislative language has been approved and submitted. Target introduction is mid-August.
“Policy is a contact sport,” said Doug Gunderson, attending on behalf of Gunderson Uniform and Linen, and a member of both TRSA and WATS. “It is important for the industry to be in front of legislators to enact policy that is helpful to our industry.”
Dave Jerrett, WATS Treasurer, added that, “TRSA has been integral in advancing our policy agenda. Since they have taken over as the manager of WATS, not only has our policy agenda moved forward, but the networking and professional growth opportunities have improved immensely.”
Joseph Ricci, TRSA president and CEO, said that, “Doing these events is important in moving policy forward. I am excited that WATS has allowed TRSA to work as the association manager, it is a good opportunity for both organizations and makes the entire industry stronger. TRSA is committed to advocate and protect the linen, uniform and facility services industry and is happy to partner with WATS to achieve that mission.”
