Lindström, Helsinki, a textile services business with a global footprint, has opened a new plant in southern Vietnam. They are the first such company to launch a uniform rental business in this Southeast Asian country, according to a news release.
“Vietnam offers a unique and exciting opportunity for us, driven by rapid industrial growth and a rising demand for professional workwear,” said Anupam Chakrabarty, who serves as Lindstrӧm’s group senior VP for Asia “Vietnamese businesses highly value sustainable services, allowing us to support their goals and drive positive change together.”
As is common in the U.S. and Europe, a workwear rental service offers customers a comprehensive solution, including industry-specific workwear design, maintenance and washing, product replacements as needed, and scheduled deliveries to businesses for a weekly rental fee, the release said.
Moreover, unlike the traditional method of buying and managing workwear in-house, the rental model helps businesses control costs, while also ensuring hygiene, safety and a more professional image for employees. In addition, the rental service – in line with Lindstrӧm’s longstanding policy – will focus on sustainability. This includes extending product lifecycles wherever possible and committing to 100% textile waste recycling, the release said.
Duc Nguyen, Lindström’s business unit manager in Vietnam, said that the uniform rental model has generated significant interest from businesses in Bien Hoa, a suburb of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon). “I am thrilled that Vietnamese companies can clearly see the numerous benefits that our workwear rental model can bring to their operations,” Nguyen said. “These include convenience, improved hygiene standards and sustainability compared to the traditional model of buying textiles and washing them in external or in-house laundries.”
