Healthcare professionals are experts in protecting patients – but when it comes to laundry and linen practices, many don’t realize how much happens beyond the walls of their facilities. A new three-part webinar series from TRSA aims to change that by offering practical education on the role of hygienically clean textiles in supporting infection prevention.
In a recent Healthcare Purchasing News interview, TRSA industry leaders Michael Lang and Dyan Troxel, MSN, RN, previewed the upcoming series and shared why this topic deserves more attention.
“There’s a strong connection between healthcare laundry and infection prevention, but many professionals don’t know what happens behind the scenes,” said Lang, a process analyst at Unitex and co-chair of the TRSA Healthcare Committee. “We want to give them the tools to ask the right questions and feel confident in the safety of reusable linens.”
Troxel, director of clinical education at HandCraft Linen Services, added that, “This series is about empowering healthcare professionals. We’re not just sharing facts – we’re helping people change behaviors that impact patient care.”
The interview also highlights TRSA’s Hygienically Clean certification program, which ensures commercial laundries meet rigorous, third-party cleanliness standards. “It’s not just about washing linens – it’s about validating that the process meets infection-control requirements,” Lang said. “Certification provides peace of mind.”
